Sullen
Hi fellow users! I'm almost done with my Corsair build and I'm in need of some advice on video cards. Money is no problem, I'm looking for best performance and reliability, my options are two GTX 480 in SLI, two Radeon HD 5870 in Crossfire or two Radeon HD 5970 in Crossfire. It's obvious that the two 5970's in crossfire are the more powerful but I'm concerned about losing Nvidia's technologies such as Physx and CUDA. In terms of covering more bases the Fermi's seem to be the best option and have better tessellation but the Radeon's is the most powerful. I'll be using two Asus 23" HD monitors, so what you guys think I should do? Thanks!
jmcu
If money is no problem... give me some.. lol One thing you should of stated is what mobo and chip are you using ?? I am not a big fan of ATI but i would go for 2 5970's. Seeing how each are 2 cards. But at 700 buck a pop... ouch If you are water cooling then I like the 480's, They run very warm and the fans are loud, as far as phys x.. you won't miss it with the 2 5970's There are only a handful of games that use it at this time.. Sullen
I think you have too much money ! ;): Not really XD!! Just put a mortgage on the house for fixing and remodeling and have a couple extra bucks for myself. I'm using an EVGA Classified 3X SLI and Intel i7 980 processor with Corsair Dominator RAM. I think I'll drop the crossfire or SLI and go for a single watercooled Sapphire 5970 Toxic. I'll save space and the loop will be smaller, plus the clock speeds are incredible! And will perform better than two 5970's and it's the same amount of memory in less GPU's. I know they are really hard to find but not impossible, so thanks for your advice and help! Why not get a normal 5970, watercool it and OC it to the max. I bet you will get better OC performance than the toxic version. You're basically paying extra $$ for the extra memory which isnt really needed as well as the fan cooling.
