No POST, P6X58D-E + CMP12GX3M3A1600C9

Hello!

I've just assembled a new system that's not POSTing so I need a little help to get things up and running.

The DRAM LED stays lit (red). Pressing the MemOK! button does nothing. I have even kept the MemOk! button pressed for more than thirty seconds, it's supposed to start blinking to begin automatic memory compatibility tuning. Also, All the fans are working when powered up. The monitor is blank and no sound is heard from the system.

I've tried with just one module in slot A1 and then B1. The result is the same regardless of which of the tree modules I use.

Since this is a new build I've never seen it POST.

Any input to get my system up and running is appreciated.

I have the same problem:

ASUS P6X58D-E Motherboard

6GB (3x2GB) Corsair TR3X6G1600C9 Ram

Whatever setup i have it never boots and the red light stays on.

Looking at posts on ASUS's forum and other forums the board seems to be the fault.

I am waiting for Scan.co.uk to reply to my support email.

We are more than happy to repalce the modules if you would like. However if this is happening with every single module individually it is most likely being caused by something else. Try each module in the last slot furthest from the CPU. If all the modules fail try a different memory slot of the same color.

Seems my motherboard was DOA... Did an RMA and received a new board. My system is up and running now, 12279MB recognized by both BIOS and OS :D:

There are a number of postings over at the ASUS forum on the same issue that I've seen.

I'm quite certain that I didn't do anything that could have caused the board to fail but decided to assemble and test the components step-by-step this time (instead of assembling it all at once and then test).

I placed the motherboard on a piece of cardboard outside the computer casing. Installed the CPU, connected the PSU and an internal speaker, no RAM or VGA. Powered on and the expected beeps came from the speaker. Installed VGA, Tested OK, beeps from missing RAM. Then one RAM CHIP (in A1), Tested OK. Entered BIOS and set the XMP profile. Installed the second RAM stick (in B1) and tested OK. Then the third RAM stick (C1), tested OK. Next I assembled all components in the casing and tested OK. The DRAM led lights for a few seconds at power on but goes off.

I've done some memory testing and so far no errors.

Thanks for your input.

  • 3 months later...

I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but it might help someone. I had this exact problem and discovered that I hadn't connected the 4 pin power plug (from the PSU) to the little socket at the top of the mobo.

Connecting this sorted everything.

Ahem....apparently I do this for a living.....oh well.....
