Silnas
Hello, I have had this problem for a while now but never got around to try and correct it. Since i build my system i have had problem with stability, the computer would BSOD or just crash and reboot. To make this interesting i have 2 identical machines both with problem however one is worse then the other. To get to the point, i recently found that my PSU was a bit to weak for my hardware and after removing 1 of my 4850 cards the BSOD went from a few per day to 1 every other day which of course made me happy. Unfortunately the random crashes are still there. Right now im running a P5E3 (standard MB) and a TW3X4G1333C9DHX, with everything auto the machine boots and put the ram at 1066 Mhz. With this setting im able to start windows and login and usually run ok for a few hours. If i try and run the ram at 1333 Mhz then system will not boot. I've tried alot of diffrent settings all from 1,5v-1,8v and NB 1,2v-1,45v. Nothing have helped and I always had to revert to all on auto and run them on 1066 to get some stability. Last night i ran 3 passes of memtest86+ 4.10 with ram at 1,7v and 1333 Mhz, no errors. But as soon as i try and boot normal, system crash at login. What confuses me is that both CPU-Z and Memetest recognize my ram as 2048GB PC3-8500 Corsair CM3X2G1333C9DHX, shouldn't they be PC3-10600? To move on, I found this post about overheating: http://forum.corsair.com/v2/showthread.php?t=88506 Could this be a problem on the P5E3? I also found: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88794 which describes the same problem i have, computer recognize the ram as PC3-8500 1066mhz at 7-7-7-20 not PC3-10600 1333mhz at 9-9-9-24? Any suggestion/help would be appreciated?
Silnas
Update: I went and bought a TW3X4G1600C9D kit and been trying to get them to run at 1600. So far i got them stable at 1333mhz (9-9-9-24-2T) @ 1.7v so im happy for that. Now im trying to get them stable at 1600mhz and i think i might have it but i'm running them 9-9-9-24-2T @ 1.92v with NB at 1.61v, is this to high? they passed 2 rounds of memtest no errors. Would like to run lower voltage if anyone have a suggestion. Thanks in advance.
Silnas
Update 2: Can't get them stable at 1600 and from what i found the x38 and P5e3 MB does not handle speed over 1333 that well and that it is more of a coincident if you manage to get a stable system at 1600. However i did manage to tweak timing and are running 8-8-8-24-60-2T @ 1335Mhz with a FSB on 417. This also makes me wonder why i couldn't get my old ram stable at 1333 on a standard 333 FSB.
