RMA question

Hello RAM Guys: I have been having problems with a kit of TWIN2X4096-6400C5C. I bought them a few months back and when I got to test them both modules were DOA. I sent them to Corsair for replacement, got a new kit and tested them. One of the two modules works, the other is DOA. I have just requested a new RMA to send the kit back for replacement, once more.

My questions are:

1. When replacement items are sent out, are they checked to ascertain that customers will receive a replacement that is in good working condition? It really sucks to get a replacement that is DOA just as the part you sent back.

2. I understand these modules are paired for better performance. Could you tell me what this pairing consists on? I would imagine that it would include testing both modules together, not just picking them based on their external appearance, the fact that they were manufactured in the same batch, etc. Pairing in my case has failed twice.

Once I send this kit in is there anything you can do to guarantee that I will get a TESTED fully working replacement? I would really appreciate your help on this. Thanks!

All of the modules are tested on a MB at the tested settings before the leave the factory. It would rare for that many module to have failed on you. You might clean the gold contacts of the suspect module with a Pencil eraser to be sure they maybe are not just dirty with excess flux.

I tried your advice. I cleaned the gold contacts of the suspect module with a pencil eraser but that didn't help. I tested both modules in two separate motherboards and the faulty one was consistently faulty in both systems. I finally decided to send them back. I will post the results of the next batch as soon as they arrive. Cheers!
