ThreeD
My system has a matched pair of CMX512-3200C2 and a matched pair of CMX512-C2PT modules for a total of 2 GB of memory. The only difference between these pairs is the color of the heat spreader. The first is black and the second is platinum. The system now has a problem in that it will beep, pause, beep, pause, etc. and not POST. If I remove all but one module it will run fine. If I put modules in DIMM1 and DIMM3 or DIMM2 and DIMM4 it will work. This is not dual channel. Dual channel is where the modules are installed in DIMM1 and 2 or DIMM3 and 4. I have the BIOS settings at 2.70v because my choice is either 2.70 or 2.80 but not 2.75. The other timmings are 3-3-6-2T. This seems to be correct from what I can gather from Corsair. I've run memtest 4.10 on each module individually with no errors. I've run chkdsk on the two harddrives and it came up clean. I even istalled a new copy of the os on another empty drive and booted from this. Same memory problems. It seems that I have no memory problems, hard drive problems, or os problems. My problems seem to either be with the BIOS settings or a problem with the mobo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 16, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 16, 2010 Mixing two kits is never guaranteed. Try loosening the timings and lowering the frequency to 333MHz.
ThreeD
What exactly do you mean by "Try loosening the timings". They currently are set to (2.5 - 3 - 3 - 6) and the voltage is 2.70v because the Bios has only 2.70v or 2.80v and not the prescribed 2.75v. I can go down to 2.65v, 2.60v, 2.55v, or 2.50v. I can also go to 2.90v, 3.00v, 3.10v or 3.20v.
ThreeD
I lowered the frequency from 400 to 333 and booted the system. Worked fine. I then shutdown, installed all 4 memory modules and rebooted. System booted to desktop and then BSOD'd.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 17, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 17, 2010 Set the timings to 3-3-3-8 and the memory voltage to 2.8v. Then lower the memory frequency to 266MHz.
