ritaylor
Here's an interesting situation. I bought a set of mempry (TR3X6G1333C9) for a build I'm doing for a friend using an EVGA motherboard. I thought I'd check the memory out on my machine since I'm waiting for parts for the new build. I ran memtest on each stick individually and all ran two passes without errors. I then put them in together and now there are hundreds of errors right off the bat! I tried reseating them and that didn't work, so I tested them again individually and they all tested good. My computer runs its' memory without errors in any order so I'd doubt it's my machine. So I guess I'll send them back. Anybody seen this before?
Wired
Did you reset the BIOS first, and then enable XMP?
ritaylor
Yes, it's really strange. I put my memory (TR3X6G1600C8D ) back in (reset bios and enable xmp) and all is well with my stuff. The problem is that the memory isn't for my machine (it's for the EVGA) and I really would like to know if it's good or bad before I start building. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 14, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 14, 2010 Also have you tried testing each slot individually?
ritaylor
I tried each one in each slot and that works also. It seems that when you put them together they don't play nice. I'm going to send them back to the store.
ritaylor
Just a second thought. The version # of these modules is 2.3. I borrowed the same set from a buddy and they work flawlessly. They are version 3.2. Would that make a difference?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 15, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 15, 2010 It sounds like the kit you have needs to be replaced. We are more than happy to help you.
ritaylor
Thanks but I've already RMA'd them back to the egg. I'll let you know about the replacements.
ritaylor
Got the new set of memory today. Testing now. After two passes all is well. Gonna let it run some more just to be sure.
