CMD4GX3M2B1600C8 - 4Gb = Stable, 8Gb = Unstable

Couple of months ago I built a system (Gigabyte GA-790XT-USB3, Phemon II x4 965 BE) and initially installed one 4Gb kit CMD4GX3M2B1600C8 - running at auto settings in BIOS (1333mhz). no problems at all.

I have just installed a second 4 Gb Kit (CMD4GX3M2B1600C8, identical, still at 1333mhz) and the system is very unstable.

I first suspected a bad kit and so remove the original kit to test - rock solid again. Mixing old new modules in any 4Gb configuration and in any slot position is stable, only 8 Gb configuration is unstable.

I would be grateful for advise on what to try next.

Thanks

mixing ram even of the same model and version is not recommended, its hit or miss. you may try to raise the northbridge voltage a notch or two to see if it helps however Corsair cannot guarantee the 2 sets will play nice together.

please read the PDF linked in my sig below..
