Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 and AMD 965 BE

Recommended Posts

Yes, this is another thread asking for advice... After running into serious mem dump issues with 2 sets of ******** Ripjaws 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 Gaming RAM I've decided to find a complete set of 4x2GB that's tested together. Once upon a time I trusted Corsair and I want to do that again...

My system setup:

AMD 965 BE

Nvidia 470 superclocked EVGA

******** C300 SSD

Coolit ECO CPU watercool

I've looked at Corsair's compatibility page for this MB and I'm unable to find a 4 x 2GB DDR3 1600+ (PC3 12800) set that's recommended. The best "recommended" Corsair 4x2GB set I can find is PC3 10666, CMD8GX3M4A1333C7. With all the sweet memory out there, could this really be the best Corsair recommends?

I really hate compromising with RAM as I know how important it is for a gaming rig. Newegg has 2 sets of Corsair 8gb sets that I'm interested in (CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 or CMP8GX3M4A1600C8) but I want to make sure I'm barking up the right tree. Is either the CMD or CMP I listed above a good choice? What's the difference? They look pretty darn identical... Any advise or thoughts? Perhaps there's another high end gaming set of 8gb that I'm missing. I would so much appreciate some help:biggrin:

To answer my own question (without knowing all the details)...

According to the Asus compatibility listing for this MB:

CORSAIR CMD8GX3M4A1600C8(XMP) 8GB(4 x 2GB) is on the list! That's good enough for me... Hope this helps someone:P

Thanks, but I've already seen that page and there is still no 8gb PC3 12800 kit listed. CMD8GX3M4A1333C7 PC3-10666 8GB Kit 7-7-7-20 is the fastest one listed.

Fortunately Asus' website has the CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 which is more the speed I was looking for.
