Hi Folks,

I’ve just built my first system and I need your advice regarding activating the XMP profile of my RAM and the possible dangerous (if any) associated with this procedure.

I have Corsair XMS3 Classic 12GB (6x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL8 DIMM (TR3X6G1600C8) like this ones:

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_312_612&item_id=024163

My setup is:

Mobo: Asus P6T Socket 1366 Intel X58

CPU: i7-930

Power Supply: Corsair TX 750W

GPU: nVidia GTS250 1GB

OS: Windows 7 64 bit

My questions:

1. Does my memory (TR3X6G1600C8) support the XMP profile?

2. I assumed it does and went to the BIOS and activated the XMP by selecting in the Ai Tweker -> Ai Overclock Tuner -> XMP profile.

Did I complete the procedure correctly and is there anything else I must do in addition to that?

3. After enabling the XMP the QPI/DRAM Core Voltage adjusted to: 1.3500

the DRAM Bus Voltage adjusted to 1.66V

I noticed also the following warning message: ‘According to Intel CPU Spec. DIMMs with voltage setting over 1.65 may damage CPU permanently!’

I got confused by this message and lowered the DRAM Bus Voltage from 1.66 to 1.64V

Did I make a mistake? Should I bring it back to 1.66V? Is the setting of 1.66V healthy for my CPU?

I’m not a gamer and I use my comp for HD video editing purposes.

Many thanks for your help and assistance!

Igor :)
