CMX512-3200XL and VS1GB400C3

Hello,

I've since 2005 in my computer this configuration :

Asus P5GD1

Corsair TwinX XL PC3200 1GB (2x512Mo) CMX512 - 3200XL CL2.2.2.5 400Mhz

with default config in bios

I wanted to put one more giga so I bought a VS1GB400C3 (Corsair ValueSelect 1GB DDR1 400mhz PC3200 with CL3)

And I can't get them to work together... I was sure that CL has nothing to do with compatibility but now I've a doubt...

I've tried the new VS 1GB and it works fine...

So, I've look at in the BIOS config, and set manually the CAS to 3-3-3-8 (the CAS of the VS1G) and try with my twinx xl... but that doesn't work...

One more precision, the P5GD1 has 4 slots, with dual-channels...

Can it works together or not, and if not, why ? Was sure that only the type (DDR) and frequence (400mhz-PC3200) has to do with compatibility...

Thank you in advance...

Hi,

Thank you for your response..

I understand that you cannot guarantee that will work, but, normally it will... not ?

No I didn't try that because the VS1GB400C3 is presented with 2,6v on the datasheet... Won't break the RAM with 2,75v ? how high is the tolerance ?

I'll try that and answer here after the test..

Hello,

So I've tried with 2.70 volts and that doesn't work either...

I've tried to make them turn at 333mhz, doesn't work either...

I don't have 2.75V but 2.80V, so I tried with that and doesn't work either...

Tried to make the 3-3-3-8 with default time (4) and that doesn't work either...

So... I think I will buy one more VS1GB400C3 and put my TwinX to recyclebin...

Or anyone have another idea ?

Thank you anyway..
