Difference between Older XMS Modules

Question about XMS Corsair modules that I use in my ASUS A7N8X Deluxe system I built several years ago: Could someone please explain the basic technical difference between the Platinum and non-Platinum versions of the two part nos. when they have the same specificiation CMX1024-3200C2PT and CMX1024-3200C2.........why is there a compatibility problem when you try to intermix the two PNs with the same specs in a PC. Surely it's more than the Platinum version having a silver heat speader and the non-Platinum having a black heat speader........is the Platinum supposed to be a better quality version? I know Corsair doesn't make these units anymore but someone should be able to clarify this for those of us that still have systems that use them.

CMX1024-3200C2-_____XMS3202 v1.2 0642237-3 = NANYA 64MX8, DDR 3200, CL 3, Die Rev B

CMX1024-3200C2Pt____XMS3202 v2.2 0605152-3 = NANYA 64MX8, DDR 3200, CL 3, Die Rev B

looks the same however mixing 2 kits are never recommended by Corsair.

you may try to lower the speed to 333 to try to get them to play nice in the sandbox.

Thanks for your reply.......so are the Platinum versions supposed to be better quality modules? In 2005 I bought the TWINX2048-3200C2 non-Platinum modules for $304 and I can't remember if the PT versions were available or not but if so, I probably didn't buy them because they were even more expensive.

idk, i have a set of 3200 LLPT with BH-5 chips rock solid 2,2,2,5 at 2.8v

if i had a choice id stick with the PTs only because they were so high rated for overclocking.

might i suggest you google some old reviews for both modules and see if there were any differences in benchmarks? i really dont know if there is a performance difference, im just biased for the PTs.
