Helix
Hi guys, Just got a shiny new computer today, and in my excitement I totally ^&*&ed up my H50 mounting. And I mean seriously. I was tightening the screws, and managed to behead one of them, and split it's little metal standoff thing (this is using the new Intel bracket). Now I'm stuck with a metal bit jammed into the board, with half a screw stuck in it. I need HELP getting this thing out!
giskard
I had the same problem and I'm guessing you followed the included instructions which fail to mention that there are two sets of screws for securing the cooler to the mobo, one set has a fine thread (the one's to use with the Intel backplate) the other set is for AMD backplates and has a coarser thread - did you use one of these on the Intel backplate? I had to use a fair bit of force and pliers to remove the seized screw. I ordered a spare mounting kit from Corsair which took about 2 weeks to arrive (I'm in the UK)
Helix
Well that's just dandy. It seems that one of these AMD screws I must've used has spread the riser thingy to the point where it won't come back out. Very irritating.
giskard
Corsair really need to sort out their instructions as supplied with the H50. See my post regarding this.
..VeNoM..
I agree. The instructions are not very clear about which screws to use. I guess I was lucky when i chose the fine threaded screws. I would recommend contacting support. Good luck mate.
giskard
Corsair support are eerily silent in this thread....
