eeriegeek
I've seen quite a few problems like this, but I figured I'd add mine in the hope that somebody can figure out what's going on. I built a new system about 6 mo ago based on a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, Intel E8600, and TWIN2X4096-8500C5D. I started getting BSODs randomly in the first week... but memtest86 and microsoft's memest both ran multiple passes without problems. I have since then replaced every component of the system, except the CPU, the case, and the memory. The last attempt at fixing this systme being replacement of the Gigabyte MB with an ASUS P5Q PRO Turbo. The first time I ran memtest86 on the new system I got errors. Despite following all the TechGuy advice I could find on voltages and timing, the modules gave errors at consistent memory offsets even installed alone and in different DIMM slots. Corsair RMA'ed this set and I just got the replacements this AM. To make a long story short, it looks like I have one good module and one bad one from the replacements. One module actually prevents the machine from POST'ing in any DIMM slot. The other has now passed 4 cycles through memtest with several of those at full 1066 and 5/5/5/15 at DRAM 2.1v and HB 1.2v. Looks like its back to the RMA cycle, but I hate to let go of the one good one. I've only had 1 or 2 bad memory modules in 20 years of home building PCs and now I seem to have 3 out of the last 4 bad. Am I doing something wrong here?
