Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R and XMS2 PC2-6400 2x1GB CL4

I can't find the proper M.I.B settings to get the best optimal settings for my Corsair memories to run at CL4. Mobo reads the timings from SPD which give me 5-5-5-18.


CPU multiplier is: 6.0x

BUs Speed 333Mhz

Rated FSB: 1333Mhz

Core Speed: 2000Mhz



I tried to change the voltages to +0,3 ONLY for DDR2/DDR3 option in M.I.B and I changed latencies from 5 to 4 and from 18 to 12 (4-4-4-12 instead of 5-5-5-18).


I also think the Core speed is too low (2000 instead of 2667).


But I wonder how to make the CPU working optimal with the Corsair memory running at 4-4-4-12? Do I also need to change FSB/CPU settings?

I do apologize about the issue you are having. The timings are 4-4-4-12-2T (CAS - tRCD - tRP - tRAS - Command Rate). As far as the CPU speed it does looke like your CPU multiplier is lower and is only letting you run at 1999MHz.

I can change the multiplier to 8x so it can run at full optimal speed (2,66Ghz)


But I don't know why does the FSB speed raise when I just change the DDR2/DDR3 Overvoltage control to +0.3.


I just want my memory to run at 2.1V with timings 4-4-4-12-2T.


Why? Because when I looked over Corsair tech support, I've seen that 5-5-5-18 timings shold run at 1.8V and 4-4-4-12 timings should run at 2.1V


So 1.8 + 0.3 = 2.1V. But why does FSB run higher? SiSoft sandra shows 4x445Mhz FSb as max is 4x400... I don't really want to burn anything, just make an use of CL4.

I set the multiplier to 8.0x and the processor works 2.66Ghz in stress now. With FSB 1333Mhz.

The memory runs at 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 timings, and DDR2 bus votlage increased by 0.3V (so its 2.1).

The system is stable, no errors. I get 6,900MB/s bandwidth with Everest and 6,600MB/s with Sandra.


The problem with FSB frequency was in M.I.T. of Gigabyte Bios - The system enchancement was set to Turbo - I set it to Standard.

Overal game FPS increased.


Anyways, I get that I wont get any better from 5:6 ratio using optimal settings. I'd need to overclock the FSB first ,then try overclocking the cpu. Like setting FSB to run at 400mhz, then memory would run at 800Mhz CL4 and FSb to memory ratio would be 1:1


Processor clock would be 400x7 for example = 2,8Ghz, if system was unstable, changing northbridge and CPU voltage higher.. would fix the problem. Ofcourse I keep in mind I'd have to do it carefully, adding 0.0125V (or something) at a time. Then test if system is stable (memtest and so on). Checking CPU temperatures will be essential.
