Removing backplate?

The glue on those pads sticks extremely well, doesn't it. I had similar problems with one of my H50s. I managed to pry it off with a thin piece of hard plastic, of course being very careful not to damage the motherboard. I first made a little insertion into the pads with a paper cutter, since they are quite thick, and then forced them apart from inside the pad. I then peeled off the remains of the pads by heating them a little with a hair blower. If you're going to do any of this yourself, you do it at your own risk though.

I learned my lesson however. The next H50 I installed, I didn't remove the glue protection on the side that went towards the motherboard. It doesn't really make any difference, once the screws are installed.
