x64 ssd
I have the x64 ssd and an asus p755d-e motherboard which has the new sata3. i was wondering will the drive work plugged into the faster sata 3 port? if yes would i see any boost in perfomance? if it won't work on sata 3 is it possible to update the firmware to utilize it? Wired
SATA's backwards compatible, so I can't see why it wouldn't work. Keep in mind you'll still be limited by the drive's speed and the SATA II connection on the drive. Only reason you would see an improvement in performance is if the old motherboard was limiting the speed below normal for some reason. No, you can't update the firmware to upgrade the physical connection.
