timchaos
I'm looking for memory to use with an MST P55 GD55 and the new Intel i7 860S processor. DDR3 1333 is fine, but performance memory is acceptable, too. Is this item compatible? I don't see the GD55 on the chart, but it is listed for the similar GD65. CMX8GX3M4B1333C9 (memory configurator suggests the Phenom II version instead of the i7 version for some reason) Also, would this 4x 2GB kit run in "dual channel" mode? Do I care? If I go for a performance option like CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 or CMG4GX3M2A2000C8, is there any issue with the new lower power (lower voltage?) 860S version? Any input appreciated, thank you! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 21, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 21, 2010 If you are looking for an 8GB kit I would recommend the CMX8GX3M4A1333C9 or CMX8GX3M4A1600C9 kits. They modules would run in dual channel mode in your P55 motherboard. If you do decided to go for the CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 or CMG4GX3M2A2000C8 you should have no problem with it. I suspect I will probably stick with the CMX8GX3M4A1333C9 then. If I do opt for the performance module like CMG4GX3M2A2000C8, could I clock it at the normal DDR3 1333 standard initially, leaving headroom for later if I want to overclock? If so, could the fan be omitted? Also, no issue with 1.65V memory with the 860s processor? Thanks again!
