How Fast is Your 24/7 Machine?

Recommended Posts

Overclocking to absolute maximum speed using liquid nitrogen cooling is great fun. However that type of OCing is more akin to drag racing and is not suitable for gaming or everyday use at those speeds. So, inquiring minds want to know; how fast is the rig you use every day?

This is not a contest so there are no rules other than the requirement that you have at least 1 Corsair component in the systems you post yere. We would like to see what you have out there that is 24/7 stable. The word filter will block some components but, we can't change that at this time. So please work around that [ EDIT by Wired: Don't go around the forum filter people! ] and show us what you have.

Be sure to list your stock speeds, cooling methods, mods, etc that are relevant ::pirate::

I wish I had a higher income, this post really has me itchin' to show off, the only thing i have is 4Gb and a dual core 11%OC, and a new 3 years young video card- that gets too hot. LOL

-Oh yeah and a decent PSU, but that really doesn't make your computer any faster.

But below is a pic of my stock AMD Athlon 64 x2 heat sync, with my 120mm fan after i took off the plastic clip that enables the stock fan to clip on the heat sync. Also the heat sync clip secures my mod, it's bullet-proof

i also have an ic7-g with 2 gig of XMS and a 2.6 northwood at 3.3 but its not my daily driver.

the 2 systems above are may main 2 fastest boxes on a KVM.

crazy hobby huh?

Use one of the video tools to speed up the fan on that 8800GT. The fans were WAY too slow on those with the stock fan profile. It makes them louder of course but you can hot key it and then only use it while you are gaming.

This is an interesting thread idea, but I don't really OC. In order to show my interest, I'll share my rig setup and specs. First off, my computer is set up to be quiet and cool running. You can check my specs in the heading, and they run at stock speeds most of the time. Video card is underclocked with rivatuner, lowering the furmark load temps by 10C to 50C at 600rpm with the 120mm fan I wired onto the big copper Zm cooler. That is completely silent. CPU has a big rosewill heatsink and 92mm fan that runs at 1100rpm, keeping load temps around 44C. That's the loudest thing in my computer (along with the hd). The case fans are all undervolted, one at 5v and the other at 7v in order to lower speed and noise. All these temps are with closed case, and setting GPU clock to stock doesn't change any temps other than itself. (fan can be kicked up to 1200rpm to keep temps around 50C while still mostly silent)

Again, sorry this isn't a crazy-oc computer, but quiet computing is also a fun goal ;)

Yeah, quietness is the most subjective quality of a computer. At least temperature and speed can be easily measured and enumerated. First owning a Duron .9ghz, I just find that the computer hardware available today is plenty fast for my uses (X4 945@3ghz is 12ghz effective!?). Guess I got too used to choppy 800x600 video games and am still impressed by my "budget" computer hardware able to render 1680X1050 fluidly at stock speeds =P

I just got in some power button, usb and sound extension cables. I plan to tear it down next week, and finish my cable mods. Surprising enough, only 73C P95 stable with that much Vcore and no lap job.

Q9550 @ 3.63ghz FSB 425 on a vanilla P5Q all volts are low cpu at stock Volts!

Q2X8G6400-C4DHX at 2.02 volt (yes 4 sticks) at 1066mhz C5 5 5 18 PL8 (almost 9Gb/s read and write acc. to sandra).

6 fans running quietly

24/7 audio production station (DAW), no internet etc.

Yes I was surprised also. First I had 2x1gb and 2X512mb of different versions XMS2 800C4 lying around and that worked easy too, so that's why I dared to buy the 8gb set. I was very happy when it worked straight away with the same setting and voltages as before.

Thanks for your great products and support!

A few months back I needed a RMA on an other set of XMS2 2gb and that went without a hitch!
