shiarua
I currently have a set of TR3X6G1600C8D ram. I want to add another 6GB. Im going to be RMA'ing the original set because it wont run as rated, but assuming the kit I get back runs as rated and the new kit I get runs as rated, will the two kits work together at 1600MHz (8-8-8-24)? I know there are different versions of this memory. What if they were the same version?
Synthohol
mixing kits are not supported and likely will not run at 1600. have you tried testing 1 stick at a time before you RMA? just asking because i didnt see any posts about it from you. shiarua
Could you clarify what you mean about "mixing kits" I would be getting the same kit of ram (TR3X6G1600C8D) to add to my system. I know the ICs are different for the different versions, but what if it was the same version of the kit? Will it really be that picky if the RAM isnt a matched kit? Also, Ive extensively tested the RAM and have determined to the best of my knowledge that the RAM will not run at rated speeds. edit: I was thinking about upgrading to this kit if adding another 6gb would not work out too well (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145271&cm_re=12gb-_-20-145-271-_-Product). Would I be able to do this through Corsair RMA?
Synthohol
the 12g kit would be a much better choice, its been certified to run at rated speed on your board (i checked the memory finder) its better than rolling the dice to see if two kits would be compatible. shiarua
Thanks for the help. Think I could do this through Corsair RMA? (Obviously pay the difference between the kits)
Synthohol
they dont do that, Corsair is a mfgr not a dealer.
