bl1tz
Hi i have an Asus Rampage formula running with an E8400 and Windows XP pro 32Bit. I would like to use 4GB of memory on it , i know that windows xp 32Bit will not take advantage of all 4GB but will it cause problems ? Also do i need 2 modules of 2GB each or can i run 4 modules of 1GB each? Because i already have 4 modules ( old dominators 800MHZ and can't find 4GB of them anymore i wish i could) but i rember reading that it's best to run dual channel? I believe meaning 2 modules of 2gb each? Also need help to pick the right RAM and keep in mind i will not be overcloaking everythign will be at stock speed. wich ones from this? 1) CGMT2X4G800 Whats the latency and voltage on this modules i couldn't find it. 2) TWIN2X4096-6400C5C 3) TWIN2X4096-6400C5 Thanks for help in advanced. Wired
Never seen the first one. I'd guess its timings are 5-5-5-18. 1. 4 GB won't blow up XP or anything. 2. ALWAYS go for a smaller # of sticks. 3. There is no such thing as Dual Channel memory, as this is a property of the memory controller in how it handles memory. This is why you can place memory in different slot configurations on a motherboard and it will register as single or dual channel.
