Case #1258046 RMA

Ok i did get an RMA number but my key questions remain unanswered. Even though I e-mailed corsair about 2 times without any answers and the question was in my RMA and still was not answered. When i asked the questions on the forum they said use e-mail when i use e-mail i get no reply so 4 weeks and not one single answer.

 

Now my question is i have two sets of Twin2X409-6400C4DHX which is a total of 4 chips (2 packages). The Ram will NOT work together even trying over 15 hours of settings. Now my question is Asus told me that there is a perfectly matched set called Q2X8G6400C4DHX that will work with my motherboard now is it possible to exchange my two packages for this set since they are the same but perfectly matched? or would i still have the same problems like I'm having now? the chips themselves have no memory errors and work but i cannot install all 4 chips only 3 will work at the most.

I am sorry but mixing Twin sets is not supported and the answer is no, you would need to ask the reseller if they can take these back and then purchase the Quad set. And what email address did you use to send this question?

Ok they said they would do it it. The sets are not mixed both sets were EXACTLY the same TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX (2 sets) so two packages of the same RAM only thing that was different is version number which is why i was wondering why it would not work.

Officially mixing sets is not supported and the next lower speed grade is suggested. Even you get two sets that are the same version in many cases it will still not run properly because Twin sets are not tested 4 up.

Yes i don't want to mix version numbers but this is still beyond my control. Even for the past RMA's i tried to tell corsair to give me the exact same version for my other chips and they even said they cannot Guarantee that they will because it depends on what they have that day. I spent 15+ hours alone just with settings using 4 different forums and every single one did not have a solution for it other then Asus recommending Q2X8G6400C4HDX and sending back my old packages. Like all the following was tried:

and this is just some of the settings even as low as DDR2-400 failed. Like i gave it more then an honest effort to get it working. In the Q2X8G6400C4HDX case would that be tested as 4 chips?

Thanks for the information. Like even as a technician i had not a single clue on how complicated this can be but learned a lot from it. Like talked to tech's who are 30 years in the business and they were not even aware of this. Like i tried to get Quad chips but there not highly available. One last question if you have two twin sets are they still capable on working at lower speeds as a set of 4? or do some of them not work at all regardless of speeds?
