H50-1 screw specifications

mate, if the thread is m3.5 then what are we supposed to do?

I'll tell you what, I'm gonna try force a M4 in :)

I just did a test on old case, the screw seems to 'stretch' hole quite nicely.

Another idea is to use those brass motherboard raisers, they are effectively M3 in 6-32 out, but they are slightly too big to fit in my fan holes. :D:

Ok, forcing did not work, and I did not want to apply too much pressure.

The other idea can work. You just need to widen the holes a little. I dont have a long M3 to test with now. Will get some countersink ones tomorrow, as I am doing a shroud.

I also made a little bolting system from the shroud, so I can stick some nice long screws in there :) This way only the shroud takes damage, which is an old fan already.

Will post some pictures if it works out ok.

Just to confirm

I went to a B&Q super store tried M3 M3.5 M4 screws and any others that looked hopeful, forget about length for a moment, these threads do not fit the H50 rad. I also tried Maplin who have a 25mm fan screw pack and that also is the wrong thread size.

I did find these screws and have orderd a pack of 4

I will let you know if it fits

I can't believe this thread went so long. Metric threads and imperial threads are made to different standards. There are no exact equivilents. You can find something close to the same size but it will not fit. Like trying to but ddr3 ram in a ddr2 slot, it just don't work. Any fastener store should be able to get the proper machine screws that are required.

I thought posts 2 and 3 were pretty clear.

Has anyone every actually found these screws at Home Depot? I've just been through their web site and I can't find them. (I have a mate in the States who'll send me some but there are limits to me sending him places that don't carry them despite what Corsair says).

If you live in the UK I found a link on these forums from another guy.

http://www.modelshopleeds.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2356&osCsid=d9b3da79f73092596aa8fe88a54b77eb

I contacted this guy on the forums to see if they work and he said they do.

I have ordered a set as I want to attach a second fan to the H50 and when I get everything sorted, I will reply with the news that they work, fingers crossed
