skeediddley
Hi all. Have been having a bit of trouble with my old ASUS P5K motherboard (won't cold boot or resume from any type of sleep) so I have upgraded to a Biostar TP45. I took the opportunity to double up my Ram and have also ordered a TWIN2X4096-8500C5 kit to go with my current TWIN2X4096-8500C7. Question is - are these two different kits likely to work well together? Is there much difference between them? (apart from latency) I run my current set up with a 400Mhz Bus speed (1600 FSB) & 400Mhz DRAM frequency (so as to have a 1:1 FSB:DRAM ratio) with stock timings of 6-6-6-18. Cheers for any advice/re-assurance in advance!
skeediddley
Update! I have just tightened the timings to 5-5-5-15 @ 400MHZ and passed an Intel Burn Test with no errors on the C7 Kit. I will run a memtest overnight - just to make sure.. Am I correct in thinking that the C5 kit should have no problem running at 5-5-5-15@400? ta
skeediddley
Just to let everyone know.... Adding C5 to an already existing pair of C7 modules caused a rupture in the space-time continuum. I now have an intergalactic wormhole just above my power supply. Only kidding. it worked fine with 5-5-5-15 timings. Cheers!
