Sky192
how do i configer the bio's This is the settings in the bios now. timing mode - manual Current DRAM frequency - 200mhz CAS# latency (Tcl) - 2.5 Min Ras#active time (Tras) - 7t RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) - 4t Row precharge Time (Trp) - 4t 1t/2t Memory Timing - 2T h/w dram over 4g remapping - enable mtrr mapping mode - continuous finding this overwhelming, i was hoping i could put the sticks in and it would boot but it didn't. Synthohol
set the proper voltage first see if it boots, then set the timings as printed on the RAM itself and we can go from there. its prolly not enough voltage im thinking :)
Sky192
I got it to boot, i set the voltage up abit to 2.75 volts from 2.60 volts. I also changed these settings with the help of google. timing mode - manual Current DRAM frequency - 200mhz CAS# latency (Tcl) - 3 Min Ras#active time (Tras) - 8t RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) - 3t Row precharge Time (Trp) - 3t 1t/2t Memory Timing - 1T h/w dram over 4g remapping - disable mtrr mapping mode - continuous I also relised that the 2 sticks are supposed to go in the same colour slots, i had it backwards before. only thing now is to figure out how to get my memory to 400mhz but the bios option only goes to 200mhz
Yellowbeard
only thing now is to figure out how to get my memory to 400mhz but the bios option only goes to 200mhz Some BIOS' word this differntly. DDR400 = 200mhz. Check the frequency in Windows under the MEMORY tab. It should say 200mhz.
Sky192
So DDR 400 has a clock speed of 200mhz and I have it as 200mhz in my bios so i'm good. The thing that confused me is it is advertised as having a memory speed of 400mhz but that is refering to the data transfer rate, which I should have with my bios set at 200mhz right? Wired
200 MHz is the ACTUAL speed, whereas 400 MHz is the EFFECTIVE speed, ergo DOUBLE data rate (DDR) memory. No, this has nothing to do with running 2 sticks.
Sky192
Thanks for the help everyone, the new ram seems to be running good.
