kiwwanna
Hello I was wondering if I ordered a second kit as my title would it work on my board? I know its not recommended as its not tunned together, but what I'm curious is all the fine settings for RAM in BIOS can they just be set to the same as the first kit for stability? Or is there more to it then that?
Yellowbeard
Running 6 up is hit or miss and will be determined by your memory controller. The only way to know if mixing 2 kits and how fast it may run is to install them and test. Most likely you'll need more memory controller aka QPI voltage due to doubling the number of modules. Wired
Don't forget that there's 9 versions of this memory, each with a different IC. Mixing ICs is not something memory controllers like.
kiwwanna
Ok so I have a Asus P6T Deluxe V2, I want to use all 6 Dimm slots. If i fill all 6 with the same spec ram (6 2gb / 6 4gb) with it funtion as 2 sets of triple chanel? Or is only triple chanel for one dimm ie a/b slots? A hardware prof said it would funtion in triple configuration so long as both 3 stick sets were the same?
Yellowbeard
It will run in triple channel. FYI, your manual has a diagram that indicates what combinations will result in triple channel operation.
