Gerrym
I have Dell XPS 720 with the FSB overclocked to 1066. While Dell says the memory is suppose to be PC2-6400, CPU-Z SPD says I have part number CM2X1024-8500C5D in my system. I want to expand the memory to 4GB while maintaining a minimum 800Mhz bandwidth. The Dell memory recommendation seems to be in conflict with the Corsair memory. Would appreciate any help in sorting this out. tks.
Yellowbeard
Your best option is to use a 2 x 2GB kit of memory. 1066 or even 800 cannot be guaranteed on your machine when using 4 unmatched modules.
Gerrym
In looking thru the forums and the memory finder, are these my two options? TWIN2X4096-6400C5 (800Mhz) TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF (overclockable to 1066) but will need to increase the voltage to 2.1v Any other good/bad points? suggestions welcome. tks.
