TWIN2X4096-6400C5 and Asus P5K issue

Recommended Posts

For some time now i was using twin 2x1gb ddr2 800 mhz dual channel Power QI one (and i had no problems), but i was planing to install some new OS (win7 64bit) so i decided to upgrade my system with some more RAM power.

I decided to purchase XMS2 twin2x4096-6400C5 G [ http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TWIN2X4096-6400C5.pdf.

But ... here comes the problem.

I never ever did OC on anything on my system, but it seems that system is unstable with my new memory. After some time ( lets say from 1-10 days) i get random BSOD, software crashes etc. First that got on my mind was the memory, so i thought maybe i purchased some bad RAM. I tested it with memtest, and got bad results = ram full of errors. Strange thing is that after few days(1-10days) i get errors like this, and after i turn off my pc and turn it back on , problem is gone.

For example, the same day when i got 123127381723182619223 memtest errors, turned off the pc, made new test and then came up with result like this one.

After few days, again same problem over and over.

Here are some bios AUTO settings :

on this screen , by suggestion from a friend i adjusted DRAM voltage to 2.0v ( i added it to 1.95v and 1.9v also, same results)

On this screen u can read some of the EVEREST memory readings.

p.s. don't get it, how can memory work fine for 1-10 days without any problems + full loaded tests like memtest and prime95, passing lots of hours without mistake, and then after 1-10 days i get BSOD crashes and memory full of errors. I even returned the old memory, tested the system, using it for some time and had 0 problems.

My guess is some bad bios settings for the RAM i purchased (maybe needs something more than AUTO bios settings) , or some incompatibility between ram and mb. Can be something else ? Anyone had problem like mine?

HELP (sorry for my bad English)

The timings are right on the memory label and in the link you posted.

So 5-5-5-18 with Dram voltage 1.9 is enough to run?

I had those spec, but i had lots of BSOD , software failure etc. ATM i am using the old memory 2x1gb ddr2 800mhz********, and system is stable.

If i return the twin TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G memory, after 1 day or 2-3-4 i get random BSOD with software failure. Made lots of tests, memtest, prime95 etc, and memory was fine at start then after some time, same test showed me 19235912612631293129356123 memory mistakes?

Maybe i am missing something in BIOS?

p.s. Why does it says 1.9v http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TWIN2X4096-6400C5.pdf ? ,and on the memory i purchased on the heat sink it says 1.8v !!!
