nomoad0305
Hi Its only 3 days since I purchased my 16GB Flash Voyager & today i noticed that it takes a very long time for any computer to detect the flash drive (about 1-2Mins):confused: I've tried formatting my flash drive (complete format) but still it takes a very long time for it to get detected. I've tried this on multiple systems with the same results. :(: Is my memory dying ? Please help!!!

nomoad0305
Hi, I Have the same problem but only in Windows 7. In Windows Vista & XP works without any delays. Hope someone will respond soon. Do you also have the problem only in Windows 7? Not sure if its a coincidence, but the 3 systems i tested so far all run Windows7. Not sure bout other OS. I have a SanDisk Cruzer Micro as well , no such problems with it. RAM GUY - Could you please help us here? Thanks !
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2009 Using a Windows XP or Vista system please try and format the drive with the Format utility from the SD-CARD Organization. Then run the test again and see if that helps.
Kaibosh
Similar issue here.. USB drive (Voyager 32GB - formatted as NTFS) was working fine in XP & Vista - and continues to, however when plugging into Windows 7 (x64) it seems to hang.. The light flashes constantly and within Explorer the drive is listed as "Removable Drive" (possibly device) and isn't accessible. Explorer itself has CPU usage up the wazoo and I can't start any other programs while it's happening. This is where my experience differs - after waiting a minute or so, I then get a message saying that the drive needs to be formatted to be used. The first time this happened I uninstalled the device from device manager and upon reboot, everything was great - plugging in the drive installed drivers and I could access it. Sometime since then that stopped working and I'm back to square one.. Drive still works just fine on any other machine (XP & Vista).. To use it on my home PC (Win 7) I need to start up a virtual machine and use it through that.. Interestingly enough when I close down the virtual machine (VMWare workstation) and the usb drive then connects to my actual machine, it works! :-/ I was going to try a format on Win 7 tonight, but nomoad has tried that with no results, I'll try the SD-Card org format util instead and hope for the best.. nomoad0305
Ok Folks, looks like I got it working by changing my File format from NTFS to Fat32. I no longer get a 2min delay for my drive to become available. But then IMHO, running my drive on FAT32 defeats the purpose of purchasing a high capacity Flash drive in the first place :!: ...i mean whats the point if I cant store files more than 4GB in size (HD Videos & ISO's are classic examples) ! :[pouts::[pouts: RAM GUY- Going by my & some of the other ppls experience on ths forum, donse'nt it look to be some sort of compatibility issue with the Flash Voyager & Win7? (in NTFS file format) . Hence i request & sincerely hope that you & your technical team look into this to get a Updated driver/Windows Update rolled out ...since the number of Win7 it def set to grow considering the fact that its barley a month since its launch , Win XP nearing the end of its Life & Win7 has effectively replaced Vista Thanks ! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 11, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 11, 2009 The driver would have to come from Microsoft not us, if there is an update and I would try and format the drive on the Windows 7 system to NTFS and see iif that solves that issue. Other wise keep checking with Microsoft for the latest updates.

Try it on other computers that have Windows 7 Installed. For me the drive works without any delays on other Windows 7 machines except mine - quite sad. The fact that it works on other Windows 7 Machines is that it's probably some motherboard usb controller driver issue but can't confirm that until my motherboard producer decides to make some new drivers and it fixes my problem. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 11, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 11, 2009 I am sorry but you should also check with Microsoft for updates as well most if not all USB drivers come from Microsoft.
SiCwan
check 2 things, w/ an NTFS formatted thumb drive, tell Win7 never use your device for ReadyBoost.. and tell it not to use system restore on the device.. those may help
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 11, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 11, 2009 Good point! It may by default enable system restore and if so will dramatically slow the performance.
