dduncan_79
I have an Asus P5K motherboard with two CM2X1024-6400 modules installed. I want to increase this memory and upgrade to 64bit Windows 7. I am looking at the Twin2X4096-6400C5 kit to bring me up to a total of 6gig. I have read several posts from people saying that mixing revisions of Ram is not ideal and getting rid of the old and keeping the new is advised. My question has 2 parts 1) Will the above two part numbers run fine in the same system? 2) Does having 6gig of "mixed" memory perform worse than 4gig of new memory? Wired
It's never recommended to mix memory of different part #s / sizes / versions / ICs. 1 / 2) maybe. Stick with just the 4 GB kit.
