GA-P55-UD4 and TW3X4G1600C9DHX

Hi,

I just got this set as a replacement from my local hardware shop after trading in a OCZ (OCZ3P1600B4GK) set for my i5 system after I had noticed that it wasn't compatible with I5 because of the 1.8 V rating at 1600 MHz. Funnily enough the Corsair TW3X4G1600C9HDX set I got in exchange has a 1.8 V rating too, which will probably fry my on-cpu memory controller if I try to set it in the BIOS. The corsair set is running happily at 1333 MHz @ 1.62 V, but my question is: is this an appropriate set for an i5 platform? The guy in the shop said so, but hey, he sold me the OCZ too and that was very unstable until lowered at 1066 MHz @ 1.62 V ...

Hi,

just found guys with similar problems and modules, with an answer from the ram guy corsair product guru. See here. Sorry about the seperate thread ...

Anyway, I am running this memory now at 1.62 Volt, 7-7-7-20 timings, 1333 MHz. This has brought me a 20% memory bandwidth increase (up to 17100 GB/s)in Sandra compared to 7-7-7-20 at 1066 MHz (14120 GB/s). This is with XMP enabled. Without it I get 9-9-9-25 timings for 16645 GB/s. NO OC on CPU, i5 750. Still much better than the other memory which would not work properly at all ...
