volgy
I have purchased the CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 kit to be used in an ASUS P7P55D motherboard. The Airflow fan (came with the kit) does not fit well on this mobo (RAM retaining clips on one side only of the modules) and the fan is very-very close to the PCIe video card. I am also concerned by the additional noise. I wonder if the Airflow fan is needed if I do not plan to overclock the RAM modules (I will use them at 1333MHz with the default timings and voltage). Thanks for any advice.
Synthohol
since the ram is sold with and without the fan http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CMD8GX3M4A1600C8-Dominator-PC3-12800-1600MHz/dp/tech-data/B002M3LLYM/ref=de_a_smtd i would have to say yes its ok. just be sure you have decent airflow in general inside the case. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 3, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 3, 2009 I would agree and for the most part if you have the fan I would suggest using it as it offers to do more for the system in general then just the memory. Heat is an issue with systems using much more power and the fan will cool the memory and MB components around the memory slots so if you have it it would only help the system remain cooler and help to last longer. But it is your system and you can use it how you like.
