bbritts
Hello. I'm new here and I'd like to build my first computer. I've been researching which ASUS board to get to go with an AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU. I've decided I'd get the ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO, but I cannot find 8GB of Corsair memory to put in it. I'd go for 4GB, but if that's the case, I only want to use 2 of the memory slots. I'd like DDR3 1600, like the Corsair CMD4GX3M2B1600C8, but will that type of memory work? The manual's QVL was of no help; it just listed SS 1GB sticks for Corsair. Suggestions sure would be helpful. Thanks. Barb
rwg
CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 question: This memory is not listed as being approved for the Asus M4A79T Deluxe Motherboard. I would like to ideally obtain 4 matched Gbs of memory. The system is new being built with the best components using AMD parts. Will the memory function in the board and if not what are your suggestions? I know 8 Gbs is overkill but I want to include in the Windows 7 64 bit system. Thanks. Rick G. Yes they will run on that MB but depending on the CPU you use you may be limited to DDR1066 or DDR1333. This post is from a similar question I posted. The answer was from the Ram Guy. "WE AMD users do not get much interest.
Yellowbeard
You can use our website to search for memory 2 different ways. First, under the MEMORY tab, we have a memory section listing memory validated for AMD rigs: http://www.corsair.com/products/phenomii/default.aspx And, we also have the Corsair Memory Finder listed on the left side of this page. You can search by module or motherboard there.
bbritts
I guess that's my problem. That memory finder does not list the motherboard (ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO) I'd like to use. That's why I thought I could find someone on the Forum that had the knowledge of what I could do. I've been searching and cross-searching for the last 3 days, and I'm running out of ideas. bbritts
Thank you Yellowbeard, I'll go with the CMD4GX3M2B1600C8 and I'm sure it'll continue to be a learning experience.
Yellowbeard
I don't have exact dates but, we should have more AMD kits launching soon. If you need to wait for 8GB I don't expect the wait to be a long one.
