TWIN2X4096-8500C5D problems

Returned the first pair I had as they were genuinley faulty so

I couldn't believe it when I started getting problems with the second set.

(random blue screens and the like)

Tested them individually and they're fine (in both slots)

What I'm asking for is if anyone else runs a similar setup successfully.

I'm guessing the motherboad for whatever reason simply can't run 4GB with these dimms ?

Just looked on the memory configurator page and it lists the C5DF modules as

being compatible but not the C5D, does anybody know the difference ?

Thanks in advance.

I would first try obvious things... trying the other 2 slots, setting timings on module manually instead of auto or maybe ganged vs unganged mode. Get CPU-Z and confirm their running dual channel mode. Are they in the correct slots for a pair per the manual?

There are only 2 slots on the board, I've already tried standard (jedec) timings and also set them manually, as I said previously both dimms on there own in either slot are fine.

The only thing I haven't tried is not running them in dual channel mode.

I take it from the memory configurator that the modules are compatible

with this board and worked in dual channel mode when tested ?

You may get a better response on Gigabyte's forum to your question, most people here will leave once they get an answer.

However I am sure there are many who have that MB or some varriant of it running these modules.

Did you try dual channel mode? Download CPU-Z and verify. Definitely check the motherboard's manufacturer's website but most importantly technical review sites such as Tom's Hardware, PC Perspective, etc. You'll find a great forum on motherboards.org.

I currently run xp 32bit most of the time and windows 7 / xp64 the rest.

I'll try some of the gigabyte forums, but if there is a motherboard guaranteed

to work well with these modules the I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks for your help.
