Foam
I have the Asus Crosshair III formula motherboard. Do you have to remove the existing bracket on the motherboard that accepts the standard AMD heatsink and fan? There is no mention of this in the documentation that comes with the H50. joytech22
You sure about that? i ordered the AMD backplate and mount just in case it didn't come with the cooler, it did anyway but i used the one i ordered because i could just stick it on with the regular backplate, it was exactly the same size in every way as the corsair one, but the stock one was made of plastic sandwiched between steel :|
SeanG
Hes talking about the front mounting bracket that you actually clamp the stock amd cooler to.
Foam
There is a plate on the back of the motherboard that the stock AMD bracket is attached to. Do you remove the plate as well and just use the plastic back plate that Corsair supplies with the H50
SeanG
I used the stock motherboard plate on back.Make sure the threads are the same.
Foam
I tried the AMD bracket with the double sided tape they suggested. Witha 1/2 turn on the threads I could not attach the water coooler it would not lock or click into place. The tape may prevent the plastic plate from sitting flush on the back of the motherboard preventing the H50 cooler from locking in place. I used the AMD stock back plate and used the other screws provided I was able to lock it in but it looks like it is not sitting perfectly square on the cpu, Im not sure what to do try it like this or try the AMD bracket again. SeanG
If its uneven you either didnt put the screws in a crisscross pattern or you didnt have the backplate pushed in the holes all the way.Its almost impossible to put it in crooked.Thats why I like the old spring loaded clamp cause you just screw it all the way down till it hits the backplate and the springs make it level. joytech22
i ordered the old spring loaded clamp because it was much easier to use, and looks more sturdy compared to the one that came with the cooler.
Foam
I guess the AMD bracket is on back order does show any stock. I see another problem I have the Fan plugged into the CPU connector and everytime I start up I get a Fan Error , the fan does not start right away there is a few second delay. Tech person suggested plugging the water cooler in the cpu connector and switch the fan to another connector on MB. I tried it but switched it back. The idle temp is 34c on the cpu. It will be hard to get the old bracket off I think the screws on the 1 side are both cross threaded they just keep turning, I loosened off the other side to see if I could align the cooler but it didnt work.
