cemc
I have the same mobo and memory, but with 2x 6GB kit, and it won't run at 1600. I tried setting everything back to failsafe, then it says it's 1066 (133*8) with CPU 2.66GHz (133*20) which works fine. But when I enable XMP (Profile1) it won't boot. I set the Performance thingy back to Standard (as opposed to Turbo or Extreme). My BIOS is the latest (F8), the only newer version is F10b, but that's beta. Should I try it ? I doubt it will help. Anything else to try to get it to 1600? And one other thing. I played around a bit, and set it up like this: CPU 166*16 (=2.66Ghz) and DRAM 166*8 (=1328MHz), and it seems to work, and the mobo didn't complain. Is this considered overclocked ? Everything else is on Auto, I didn't mess around with the voltages either. In the mobo's manual it says "Support for DDR3 2100/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules". Does this mean it DOESN'T support 1600 modules?? and is this TR3X6G1600C9 1600 even? Because memtest says there are 6 PC3-10660 CM3X2G1600C9 in the slots. I'm confused. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Wired
There's no guarantees that 2 kits will work together, let alone at their rated speeds. Your motherboard supports memory in that speed range. As for PC3-10666 in the SPD, that's a static field and will never change.
cemc
What should I do? If I try one kit (3x2gb) at a time, and it works, but together they don't... I need to get a 12gb kit ?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 15, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 15, 2009 It would be best to use one of our 12 Gig sets, mixing two sets together will be hit and miss.
