ddg
I ordered 2 modules of CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D - Retail and neweggs offers this CORSAIR DOMINATOR 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 - Retail (as a matched set) My question is how can I tell if my modules are actually a matched memory set? I guess I typoed when ordering but I think having your memory matched is important isnt it?
Wired
If they came in the same package they're matched, otherwise they aren't.
ddg
does it make a differnce? I just opened my shipment box and they are in two different boxes. I am thinking of RMAing them to try and get a matched set of 12 gb. I also want to overclock it.
ddg
Ok I can not figure this out. I have bought CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145224&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-N82E16820145224 I have bought 2 units of these to make 12 gb However this is what I should have bought. It is 12gb with the same rating. But for some reason they are out of stock http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145271 But they do have this in stock... it is a slightly different rating, but is a matched set. Can someone tell me which memory I should buy or should I just keep the memory I have... I am tired of trying to find the answer. I have 2 unmatched sets of 6mb with the 8,8,8,24 lay.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145235&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Memory+(Desktop+Memory)-_-Corsair+(XMS+Series)-_-20145235 Please help! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 13, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 13, 2009 With two sets DDR1066 or DDR1333 would be suggested. and I am sorry but we do not guarantee the tested settings when mixing memory only as they are sold as one set. ddg
So what does this mean. I need to RMA the sets I have back to get a matched set. Also the two set from new egg are slightly different with one set on back order. the 8-8-8-24 is on back order while the 9-9-9-24 is in stock. Is there a difference in these two packages.. Or shoudl I just stick in my 2 packs of 8-8-8-24 and see if they work? I think both sets are 1600 memory modules.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 13, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 13, 2009 No we do not support mixing Twin sets only as they are sold and if you do mix them I am sorry but you will need to lower the memory frequency. Wired
Since they have not tested your 2 kits together they cannot guarantee that if you run them together that they will run at their rated speeds.
