LeMoN
Hey, I got my 800D yesterday, first thing i want to say its freaking AWESOME! :D: Now my 2nd question, since i really want a nice and clean build i would like to stealth my optical drive but i dont know if it's possible though. There for i would like to know if corsair is going to sell the 5,25" covers as spare parts(because i probably have to mod the cover with a dremel or so) I hope anyone could tell me ;)

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 13, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 13, 2009 The drive bay covers are not available separately, but if you need one, send an email to ramguy@corsairmemory.com with your contact and shipping information and we can see if we have any available. swalker23
I stealth mod my DVD drive. Its not 100% flush with the case more like 90% due to I had to add some layers of tape so I can push the corner in and open it. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j37/swalker23/DSC00439.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j37/swalker23/DSC00441.jpg
PeterFazekas
^That stealth mod doesn't do much for the looks IMO, seeing as you have that huge duct of yours right underneath it. But good job anyways.
deees
Please consider offering them for purchase, I'd like to by at least 1 set so I can experiment with some bay devices.
Dallanar
Can you show exactly how you did that? I am assuming you simply removed the bezel, cut off the mounting legs to the plate and attached it using two sided tape to the tray? It looks really good closed. I wish I could get a bezel made of the same front but with a tray cut out and a hole for the open/close switch and emergency open pin hole but I will take what I can get for now. I have two Blu-Rays, both with different covers.

I have two Blu-Rays, both with different covers. Yup, well you are mostly correct. I cut off the sides of the bezel along the lines with a dremel and sanded the rest til it passed the open area without any resistance or drag. You can notice the pieces to cut if you look at the bezel while trying to put it in. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j37/swalker23/123.jpg After that I cut, then scraped/peeled with a exacto knife, then sanded the top and bottom portion til it was flush with the case. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j37/swalker23/345.jpg After that I just laid my removed front panel of my DVD drive on top of the bezel and marked where the double sided tape should go to mount on the tray and for the eject button. For the eject button I used three pieces of double sided tape and leaving the colored seal on top of the last piece so it won't stick to the eject button the dvd drive. Dallanar
Thanks for the info. Mr Armageddon had posted something about how to do it at one time also. I wish I could find a good paint or something to match the front but the brushed aluminum makes it hard to do that. I am going to see if I can find someone that can cut the original cover to match the bezel trays or something. I like the looks of the front but with all of the different manufacturers making different fronts it kind of detracts from the beauty. Again, thanks for the input, I may try that until I can research something else.
havox
what about something like this? http://www.crazypc.com/products/c-02a-81299S.html
Dallanar
Those are what I was looking for but they only fit Lian Li Cases. If corsair makes something like this for the 800D I know I will be getting two.

Dallanar
what about something like this? http://www.crazypc.com/products/c-02a-81299S.html I ordered one to see what I can do with it. I will post if it comes out looking good and working like it should. Can't hurt to try but if Corsair comes out with some I will change to theirs immediately. havox
I pm'd him still waiting for a reply. I ordered one myself as well see if I can get it to work.
havox
He told menwhat he did. He had to cut off the entire right angle bracket to get it to fit then ad sometape to the front for spaceing. I can post the pc later. Also no need to cut holes in 800d it all lines up _this part ----/
Dallanar
I have one on the way and looking for another but I would be very interested in knowing how he did it exactly. I figured I would have to cut off the angle although it looks like it is attached with rivets or screws but it would be nice to see how they did it. havox
aha sold out? I guess alot of people look at these forums :D anyways heres his exact instructions and a few paint pics Yeah they are Lian Li Bezels. I was hoping there was enough clearance to just drop them in but in the end I had to cut off the entire right angle bracket and then cut about 3mm's of the remaining aluminum off. the side screws actually snap into the 800d's front bezel holder's, but sit to far forward, so I used some double sided tape at the front of the bezel to space it so they sat flat with the rest of the front. Dallanar
I ordered one, havent gotten around to looking at modding it yet but from what I can see, it looks like I need to but off the tabs and attach it to the front panel somehow, screws, tape etc. I didn't see exactly what the other guy did but you can not mess with the hinged tray at all as it attaches to the lower portion with a screw on each side. I am still working on getting the system to boot to windows 7 again atm. For some reason it is giving the message that the bootmgr is missing when I go for a fresh install so I am going to partition the OS drive on my other computer when I get time.
