Prochambers
Hi. This is my first post to this forum. I built my system back in January 2009 and installed a 6GB Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D kit but now I want to increase by another 6 gb of the same kit from Newegg. What is the best way to do this? Should I purchase another 6GB Dominator kit or should I get a 12GB kit? Please advise. Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 14, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 14, 2009 It would be best to replace what you have now with a 12 Gig set, other wise you may be limited to DDR1066 or DDR1333 with two sets of mixed memory. Prochambers
Thanks for the feedback. Is there anything to be aware of when upping to the 12 gigs of memory? Are there certain memory configurations that I would have to manually tweak in bios to get the memory to run at the correct mhz's? Let me know. Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 15, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 15, 2009 As long as you purchase one of our 12 Gig sets just load setup defaults and then enable XMP should be all you need to do.
