giac96
I have a m/b abit ab9pro with 4 stick of XMS2 CM2X1024, Intel Pentium 840D and an Ati Radeon 4870. I tried to replace the CPU with an Intel QX6850 Extreme edition: the system hangs up at boot and, after setting the hdd controller in raid mode (3 HDD in raid 5) the system stopped. All other paremeters on bios are in default mode. After few tests I saw that, change ram frequence, cpu multplier and something alse the system started but, after few minutes in windows vist (business 32 bit), the pc rebooted without any other message. This mood has been repeated several times so I has not been able to run CPU Z or something else. My feeling is that the ram setting is not correct, or maybe, the matching between ram clock and cpu is not possible (fsb 800 and 1333). I suppose to change cpu with Intel QX6800 (fsb 1066). Someone knows something more? both cpu (6850 and 6800) are on Abit compatibility list, but Abit, since now, have not sent any answer. Help or suggestion? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 15, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 15, 2009 With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
