macdelorean
When upgrading my fan on my H50 today, I noticed that the screws used to secure the fan/H50 were extending well beyond the threaded holes and were actually bending the radiator fins in all 4 corners. I'm not sure if the unit shipped with these defects (and I used the included washers), but will this reduce cooling effectiveness? Temps of my 950 currently average about 38C idle and 50C on load. Thanks for your help!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 9, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 9, 2009 It's hard to say, can you post some pics of the bent fins? I would suspect that everything should be fine, but I don't think I fully understand how the fins got bent.

My cooler is currently installed in my PC, so I annotated a stock photo to show you where they are. The bent fins are behind where the screw mount holes are, almost like the screws went in too far. http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/1647/bentfins.jpg

Just be careful with it in the future. Also, if it's not in the main channel of airflow it won't affect the cooling properties of the radiator. In the past, I had a Radiator get the fins all jacked up a while back. What couldn't be fixed with a piece of a credit card like material got fixed with a small flat head screwdriver.
