John A. Edson
Is anyone aware of any conflicts between the two pieces of kit when the P128 is being used to host any of the following OSs, XP 32 bit, XP 64 bit or Ultimate 64 bit in the form of being unable to install any of them? Corsair Employees Bluebeard Posted October 7, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 7, 2009 Either combination will run fine so there is no need to worry ;):
John A. Edson
Thanx for responding Bluebeard. "Run" would be fine - but the SSD will not accept any OS at all, I have nothing. BIOS admits to the SSD being there. When I run from CD to install say XP 32 bit it goes through the full "copying files" procedure and then displays BSOD. Annoyingly I have had both XP and Vista installed, and at the same time (the SSD is equally partitioned in size) the two splash screens would display, but couldn't do anything further. I have been trying to get this T7400 working now for 2 months! Any further suggestions other than discon. all other drives, changing the SSD lead and connecting to different drive connectors on the MOBO? Oh, the SSD is COLD thermally, should it be luke warm or aired in temperature?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 7, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 7, 2009 Have you tried to install just one O.S. and do you get the same error with either O.S.?
John A. Edson
Hi Ram Guy. I have at last got XP 32 bit installed on the c Partition (no other drives connected, except the LG optical drive of course), and to date it appears to be responding as it should. It was my intention to put a 64 bit OS on the D Partition (either XP 64 bit or Ultimate 64 bit) but should I first "protect" the C Partition files with something like Acronis so that they don't get overwritten/modified? Or is the Partitioning sufficient isolation? Does the SSD get warm? Regards, John
Davyc
When you dual boot with two OS's on different partitions on the same drive some files for the second partitioned OS will get written to the first (primary) partition. If the C:\ partition goes west or you change it - i.e. reformat and reinstall - then the secondary OS will be rendered inert and you will either have to do a repair or reinstall. Imaging is a good option but only if you keep the same parameters and installations. Another option would be to "hide" the partitions and use a Boot Manager this will keep each of them independent. John A. Edson
Thank you Davyc for your help - I will try your last suggestion and hide the partitions and use a boot manager as par Acronis. Tnx.
