banshee28
Building a new system with the AMD Phenom II 965 chip, and will run 8GB with the Gigabyte UD5P board. It looks like the ram will only run at 1333 with this board so if I get 1600 RAM, I plan to run it at 1333 with tighter timings. I was thinking about getting this 4GB set CMD4GX3M2B1600C8, and try to run them at 1333 with lower timings. I also know that if I get a 8GB "set" my chances would be better that they will work together better. Is there currently a 8GB kit for the AMD systems? I see this one for the Intel setups, but not sure if this will work also with AMD: CMD8GX3M4A1600C8
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 8, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 8, 2009 With 4 modules DDR1066 or DDR1333 would be suggested.
banshee28
With 4 modules DDR1066 or DDR1333 would be suggested. Thanks Ram Guy. I cant seem to find any 8GB AMD kits even in 1333? I see there is one kit, but it shows its for the Intel i chips. What do you recommend as the best AMD 8GB kit or 2 4GB kits to get?
rwg
Banshee28: I am building the same system and have also posted a similar question as yours. Please let me know if you determine what memory will work. Thanks.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 14, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 14, 2009 You could use a 8 Gig set of modules listed for Core I5 but they may not run at full speed on an AMD as most if not all of the CPU's on the market from AMD will top out at DDR1333 for AM3 CPU's
