gimiller
I got my current system about 6 months ago, and was running 4x2gb of dominator memory on a ga-ep45-ud3p. Everything worked fine until about 4 months in where random blue screens began showing up progressively getting worse. Just recently booting passed the windows log in screen became impossible, so I found a couple posts about other people with the same problem and followed the suggestions for stability. I took out 2 sticks and changed the suggested bios settings, the stability increased for a few hours but the blue screens came back. I switched to the last two sticks which endured a full day, but eventually began blue screening as well. I've currently switched out all sticks of dominator ram and so far haven't experienced another blue screen. My brother has the exact same setup, except he got his not that long ago so his has been working. With that being said, I was wondering if there was anything he can do to prevent what seems like a very common occurrence with 4x2gb cm2x2048-8500c5d and a ga-ep45-ud3p motherboard. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 5, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 5, 2009 With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
gimiller
Made sure legacy usb was disabled, and downloaded the most recent memtest version. Tried all 4 modules in and used the recommended settings, got more memtest errors. I then tried only the first kit of ram 2x2gb with the recommended settings for two sticks and eventually got blue screens and more memtest errors. I got the same result when only testing the 2nd 2x2gb kit of ram, everything worked for a short amount of time but began blue screening and showing memtest errors. I've switched out all of the dominator modules for another brand and have been blue screen free for about a week.
Wired
How many sticks and at what speed / voltage are they running?
gimiller
I started with 4 sticks at the voltage settings posted by ram guy in this thread trying both DDR667 and DDR800, that continued to show errors so I took 2 sticks out and began testing 1 kit at a time. I switched the setting back to DDR1066 for using only 2 sticks, the 1st kit worked for a few hours but started blue screening and reporting memtest errors, the same thing happened when I was testing the second kit, except that it lasted probably twice as long before the blue screens or memtest errors showed up.
