quoc
I had 2x CORSAIR XMS2 1GB in my system for about 2 years now, running solid, no problems at all. Recently I purchased 2 more CORSAIR XMS2 1GB and installed them. Immediately within an hour I got a BSOD and another BSOD within 30 minutes. I took 1 of the new stick out, and it's working for 5 hours now without problems. We will see what happens in the long run as I usually have my computer on for days. What should I do now? Should I request RMA on the stick or try to troubleshoot it more?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 1, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 1, 2009 You should test each module one at a time at their tested settings to be sure one is not failing and then with 4 modules installed I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
quoc
I tested the suspected module with memtest86+ and got a few dozen errors with test #5 on pass #0, #2, #3, #4, #5. All on the same address range. The other 3 modules gave no errors. can i get rma request now? If yes, do i need to send back both sticks or just the failing one? I don't think think they came together as twin pack because there are two separate packages. someone edited the title to twinx but what i bought was Model CM2X1024-6400
