andy318
Hi, I got a Samsung PB22-J drive with VBM19D1Q. I'm using it with Windows 7 and running the "fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify" returns 0 which is supposed to mean that the drive supports TRIM. Are Corsair P256 drives also shipping with this firmware now? Do you have details on this firmware? Samsung site does not.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 30, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 30, 2009 At this point we are not sure, this information would need to come directly from Samsung. Sorry about that.
Davyc
The fsutil behaviour query doesn't mean that your drive supports Trim, it just means that the operating system has recognised a drive that "could" support Trim and is active to take advantage of the feature if it is available from the drives firmware. I ran the same query on my X64 and Trim was reported as active within the OS but the drive firmware itself does not yet support the ATA Trim command as featured in Windows 7. It's a bit of grey area at the moment because no company is allowed to discuss any aspects of Windows 7 under the NDA until it is released. Mack90
VBM18C1Q (P128) also reports 0 Mack90
Davyc
VBM18C1Q on the Samsung controllers has its own internal GC feature which, using some of the benchmark programs, will report it as Trim enabled, but this is the internal firmware version of Trim; apparantly Samsung are working with MS to iron out what's needed in the firmware to allow Windows 7 to operate the Trim function via the ATA command set. We'll just have to wait and see what transpires once Windows 7 is officially launched on 22nd October.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 1, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 1, 2009 Samsung has there own version of Trim that is active with Firmware version VBM18C1Q however, Microsoft's Version of Trim is not supported yet.. More information on Trim can be found by searching for Definition of S-ATA Trim Command, there are several articles about trim like this one. I would encourage you to do a bit of research on this if you have any questions about Trim; Microsoft's Version of Trim or S-ATA Trim

South Park
I'm wondering what the changes are in VBM19D1Q compared to VBM18C1Q. May I send in my SSD in for firmware upgrade?
