Mr_Armageddon
Oh for the love of God!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I just realized I can't connect my vid cards. I have 2 compression fittings sitting here and I thought I could xfire / sli connect the waterblocks using them and some tubing. Does anyone know what to buy for this? I have bitspower fittings all over the place. From PCB to PCB it's almost exactly 1.5 inches apart. These? http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8566/ex-tub-448/Feser_Crossfire_SLI_Multi_Spacing_Fittings.html?tl=g30c101s873 Those would work fine, but is there a reason you can't just space your video cards out a bit more and just use tubing? For example, one card in the top PCI-e slot, the next PCI-e Slot down could be the Creative X-Fi Sound Card, and the next one down your second GFX card. That would give you plenty of space to use normal tubing with your Crossfire Setup and compression fittings. The part you ordered would work as well, just trying to give you some other ideas. Here is an idea of what it would look like if you spaced the cards out a bit more and relocated the X-Fi card. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2576/4074758367_46f411438e.jpg Your Motherboard has 4 PCI-e 2.0 x16 slots, so might as well use them to your advantage. gutcheck
Actually I think it only has one 16x slot. Two others are 8x and one 4x. I have the evga x58 le.... And the bottom 8x is way bottom.... And the future home of a third 5850....
Mr_Armageddon
Actually I think it only has one 16x slot. Two others are 8x and one 4x. I have the evga x58 le.... And the bottom 8x is way bottom.... And the future home of a third 5850.... I know there is only 1 true x16 slot. I was simply trying to explain that you don't have to have the two cards right next to each other. You can spread them out and using tubing between their blocks, which is what I plan to do. http://www.xbitlabs.com/images/mainboards/evga-x58-sli-le/pci-e.jpg I didn't know you planned on adding, a third card. In that case, the product you purchased will be the only solution. I personally am going to run SLI with the new Fermi GT300 series cards from Nvidia, along with my current 9800GT as a dedicated PhysX card. Only crappy thing is now they are estimating a January, maybe even a February release date :[pouts:
gutcheck
Yes, thats why I didn't wait actually. I think these are pretty good bang for the buck cards, but lets be honest, with the blocks etc all that goes out the window. I may not even WC the third one. Check this out... The first card gets HOOOOOOT.... 90 after just a little time in Crysis or FC2, yet card #2 is hangin at about 60. I dunno, if card #3 is at 50 at full load, I think I am going to leave well enough alone. I do want to OC the bejezus out of the though. I'm shooting for full OC via ATI tool at 775 ea and what ever I can get away with with the mem. BTW, MR A on a totally different note, yesterday I OC'ed my Proc to 4.2 GHZ and at IDLE it was 52. I got scared and put it back to 3.4. Since we have similar boards, might you post your template for your OC? I hate to say it, but I may need to WC my CPU if this H50 can't get the job done. I'd like a stable 4.0.... Here is what I used for 4.2 and it was way too hot: Mother Board ( EVGA X58 LE) Drivers ( 1024 ) Bios ( S225 ) CPU ( 920 D0 ) (with 920's please also add the stepping CO or DO) CPU Cooler ( Heat Killer 3.0 ) Memory ( Corsair Dominator 1600) PSU ( HX 1000 ) GPU ( 5850 X 2 ) Drivers ( 9.11 ) Operating System ( Windows 7 64 Ultimate ) Frequency Control CPU Clock Ratio ( 20X ) CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) ( 200 ) MCH Strap ( Auto ) CPU Uncore Frequency (16x) CPU Clock Skew ( 0 ps ) Spread Spectrum ( Disabled ) PCIE Frequency (Mhz) ( 100 ) Memory Feature Memory Speed ( XMP Profile 1 ) Memory Control Setting ( Enabled ) Memory Frequency ( 2:8 ) Channel Interleave Setting ( 6 Way ) Rank Interleave Setting ( 4 Way ) Memory Low Gap ( Auto ) tCL Setting ( 8 ) tRCD Setting ( 8 ) tRP Setting ( 8 ) tRAS Setting ( 24 ) tRFC Setting ( 74 ) Command Rate ( 1t ) Voltage Control EVGA VDroop Control ( Without VDroop ) CPU VCore ( 1.475 ) CPU VTT Voltage ( +300 ) CPU PLL VCore ( auto ) DIMM Voltage ( 1.65 ) DIMM DQ Vref ( +0mV ) QPI PLL VCore ( 1.4 ) IOH VCore ( 1.4 ) IOH/ICH I/O Voltage ( 1.65 ) ICH VCore ( 1.25 ) *PWM Frequency ( 800 ) CPU Feature Intel SpeedStep ( Disabled ) Turbo Mode Function ( Enabled ) CxE Function ( Disabled ) Execute Disable Bit ( Disabled ) Virtualization Technology ( Disabled ) Intel HT Technology ( Enabled ) Active Processor Cores ( All ) QPI Control Settings ( Enabled ) QPI Link Fast Mode ( Enabled ) QPI Frequency Selection ( 4.800 GT/s ) OC Recorvery ( Enabled ) PnP/PCI PCI Express Maximum Payload Size ( 512 )

gutcheck
Guys, I filled it up, turned the pump on, it makes noise but nothing is happening.

You might just die :D:
gutcheck
Dry testing for 3 hours now without a single leak.... nevermind that I sprayed coolant all over the bottom of the case. Thank god for that barrier between the PSU and the rest of the case. http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/2392/img0618i.jpg

gutcheck
They are the new Thermaltake's: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1164&ID=1863 Whisper quiet. The only reason I got them is Fry's stocks them. I got em on sale for 8.99 ea. Microcenter charges 32 each!!! I wish I could paint the Corsair Ram and case fans white. I don't think thats a good idea though. Also, WHY DIDN'T I GET THE NICKEL BLOCKS! Seeing it in there I should have gone nickel. I'm still new at this and I thought I couldn't do that as my RAD is copper. Apparently, with Nickel it doesn't matter. Oh well, next time (in six months) :) This is really fun BTW... if it works when I turn it on that is.
gutcheck
Ha ha. I have been sprayed a time or two myself taking apart the loops, although I never actually got any in my mouth. You might just die :D: Well you see it was one of those moments of panic. Juice was falling out of both the fitting and the hose, and I only have one mouth and one cup. I figgured I'd stick the hose in my mouth and try to blow it through, which worked, but not before the fluid went in my mouth (not much) Whats scary is I conciously stuck it in my cheek prior to blowing as not to get it in the loop. My crisis situation reaction sense needs work.

In the fans area, at least in my store, it seems that every time I'm there, they are selling different items. Also, compared with the selection at Newegg, their selection is pretty crappy.:sigh!: And their motherboard selection is also very limited. :sigh!: And they don't have the Corsair 800D case. Probably never will. I wish I could paint the Corsair Ram and case fans white. I don't think thats a good idea though. Nothing stopping you, except the price of a can of spray paint (or dye?)
gutcheck
Guys! My vid temps went from 45 idle to 25. Load from 90 to 38!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats after 50 loops of Crysis benchmark tool at 2560x1600.
gutcheck
Ok, I used the 4.0 GHZ template, but my CPU is at 4.2? I got an error on the 20th loop of Linx :( http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/3679/gutcheck.png
gutcheck
My multiplier is set in the BIOS to 20 and E-LEET shows x21? Did I miss something? Not that this is bad per se, but I want to be a bit more stable... and I like round numbers.

gutcheck
That was it. Those 200 MHz dropped 15 degrees off my max temps. 90 for 4.2, 75-6 for 4.0. I guess I'll stick with 4.0.
Mr_Armageddon
That was it. Those 200 MHz dropped 15 degrees off my max temps. 90 for 4.2, 75-6 for 4.0. I guess I'll stick with 4.0. Glad to hear you got it working. I like cooling the CPU with liquid, but the most noticable temp drops by far on on the GPUs. My 8800 Ultra uses the original G80 chip. Really big, and runs HOT! With the crappy Thermaltake waterblock its temps have still dropped over 30C even while heavily overclocked. Gotta love liquid cooling. It does require more effort up front, but its worth it in the long run.
gutcheck
My 5850's just passed 99 loops of Crysis at 2560x1600 at high and niether of them went above 45 degrees. This is at a core of 900 MHZ and memory at 1175 MHZ. I'm shooting for 1GHZ per core :) 48 fps average btw.
gutcheck
Mr A, the system is done. Man I can't thank you enough for all your help. I have decided on a vid card config, it will be 1 x 5970, and 2 x 5850's. I know this is untested, but it should work, and I think it will keep me happy for a year or so. I will never have my vid cards on air again!

gutcheck
Will do. I've decided to get a 5970 and have that and my 2 x 5850's in kind of a frankin-quad fire setup. I'm not sure how it will work, but we will see.
