shannontreacy
Hi! I recently purchased a msi NF750-G55 sli motherboard and my supplier recomended the Corsair TW3X4G1600C9DHX G ddr3 ram ver9.1 (which I bought). I am concerned that it might not be compatible as the motherboard has a memory rating of 1.5v and the ram I bought is rated at 1.80v. I am not in the position to test it yet as the system is yet to be built but if it is not compatible, rather than unpack the memory and then do a return, it would be easier to rma it still sealed. As the motherboard has only recently been released there isn't much info on the msi forum so if anyone here can give advice it would be much appreciated. Synthohol
i dont see that board on the compatability selection of the memory finder on the left. may be too new to have been tested yet?
shannontreacy
Last week the motherboard wasn't even on the uk site of msi. Anyway I wouldn't be asking the question if the board was on the compatible list and as I asked before, it is more of the case whether or not a 1.50v memory based motherboard and the corsair 1.80v ram will work together or not. Wired
If the motherboard can't supply 1.8v to the memory then I'd get memory that is rated at 1.5 voltage. However, you can always try the memory you have at lower speeds.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 29, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 29, 2009 According to the CPU Specifications for your CPU Support for unregistered DIMMs up to PC2 8500(DDR2-1066MHz) and PC3 10600 (DDR3-1333MHz) – AM3 only So you should be able to run the memory at DDR1333 just load setup defaults and set the memory Voltage and leave all of the settings at AUTO then test the system with http://www.memtest.org. shannontreacy
Thanks Ram Guy but just to clarify what you said: - So you should be able to run the memory at DDR1333 just load setup defaults and set the memory Voltage and leave all of the settings at AUTO then test the system with http://www.memtest.org. You suggest that I change in bios the voltage from the motherboards quoted 1.50v ram to 1.80v. or should I allow the motherboard to set the memory voltage at 1.50v. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 1, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 1, 2009 Set the Voltage to what is printed on the modules should be 1.6-1.9 Volts.
