greiggsy
I am running a Gigabyte EX58 Extreme with Corsair memory TX3X6G1333C9 and Intel i7 920 2.66mgz and it works fine. I decided to upgrade the memory to Corsair TR3X6G1866C9DF G . If I set the bios as normal it lt runs at 1066 but if I go into the bios and set it manuall to run at 1866 when I re boot it makes a warbling sound ( best description) and I have to shut off . I am not trying to overclock just get the best from the installed memory. Can anybody advise please.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 18, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 18, 2009 DDR1866 might be too much of an over clock for a I920 CPU but I would make sure that you have the latest BIOS then load setup defaults and set XMP to enabled and then exit the BIOS and test the system with http://www.memtest.org.
