soulman1949
Just bought a Voyager 8GB flash drive for taking with me on holiday with my new Acer Laptop, Windows Vista Home Premium. Windows installs the drivers and thinks it's a Realtek USB2.0 Card Reader! Needless to say the drive does not show up in Computer! I temporarily tried it in an XP system and there are no problems there, it sees it as a 7.4Gig FAT32 drive. I'm really cheesed off as I sail tomorrow and don't have time to get another memory stick. Any thoughts? Alan
soulman1949
PS I've just tried a working 4GB Voyager and have the same problem on the Acer! Yet a 4GB memory stick from OCZTechnologies is recognised correctly!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 8, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 8, 2009 Do you have the Power Adapter plugged in? You just might not be getting enough power to the USB ports without your adapter.
3 Dollar Bill
I am also having the same problem with 8GB Corsair Voyager on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. It's definitely not a power issue as I have the laptop plugged into the mains. When I plug the voyager into the USB port it shows up as "Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader", any suggestions? trrunde
if you just uninstall the software called Realtek usb 2.0 card reader from add remove software the usbstick will work. note that if the computer has recognized the usbstick as a card reader you need to uninstall the driver from device manager and search for new hardware again.
