Victuswolf
I have just bought a Corsair 450W HX Series Modular PSU (online) as an upgrade to help meet the power requirements of my GeForce 7600 GS (AGP 8x) I have been out of the loup a few years in PC upgrades and i don't know if Corsair 450W HX has any compatible issues with older motherboards such as my Asrock P4v88+. I don't know much about the ATX12v standards as back when i built the system any ATX PSU would do the job. The 450wHX says it Supports the ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 standards and is backwards compatible with ATX12V 2.01 systems... My Asrock PV488+ does not state what kind of system it is. I assume its ATX12V 1.0? Will the Corsair 450W HX be compatible with my P4V88+ motherboard? If not is there another Corsair PSU that supports Older PSU's such as the one im using? Wired
ATX v2.01 came out in June '04. Corsair wasn't making PSUs before that version came out. If you meant the P4V88+, the first manual came out in December '04, so you may be ok. The difference in ATX v2.00 and 2.01 was that the -5V line was removed from being mandatory in the spec. Ultimately without ASRock being clear on the ATX spec, no one can guarantee compatibility.
